REPORT ON NATIONAL LEVEL SCIENCE EXHIBITION PARTICIPATION
Air Force Sr. Sec. School got the opportunity to participate in the 46th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition 2019. This was held at Raipur, Chhattisgarh between 15 to 20 Oct 19. G. Kaviya (XI B) and Aanchal (XII B) presented their model ‘Magnetic Organic Farming’ under the guidance of Mrs Taru Goyal, PGT Physics. Arushi Goyal (XII B) also collaborated for research in this model. Our model Magnetic Organic Farming, presented an innovative thought that magnetic field can affect the plant growth positively. To show this, a comparative study was done between plants grown in field of strong neodymium magnets, organic plants and conventionally grown plants.
It was found that the Magnetic plants are healthier, produce better yield and also are not attacked by pests. This concept was highly appreciated by all the visitors and we were also featured in the annual magazine Smarika. NCERT team featured the project on ‘You Tube’ as well.
The children reached this level after passing through a rigorous process of winning at Zonal, Central and State level. The models of the winners at state level had to go through a screening by NCERT, which organise this event, at National level every year.
There were 27 participating states and 159 models were presented. Every day lectures by eminent scientists, professors, vice chancellors of various universities added flavour to the event. Cultural events depicting the culture of Chhattisgarh and various states were also presented there. Overall, it was an enriching experience for the students.
