The Directorate of Education Science and TV branch selected three students for participation in Delhi State Level Exhibition and Project Competition , from Air Force Sr. Sec. School under theINSPIRE AWARD SCHEME session 2011-2012.Sakshi Arora of class VIIB made a model titled “Uses of geo thermal energy “, under the able guidance of <Mrs. Poonam Yadav . Anjali Kumari of class XB demonstrated through her model the process of obtaining‘Diesel from Plastic’. She was guided in her endeavor by Mrs. Geetika Arora . Jaya Manocha of class XI B emphasized through her model , ‘Oceans – The untapped Resource’ , the important role oceans can play in sustaining the human race without disturbing the ecological balance. She, under the guidance of Mrs. Taru Goyal ,demonstrated two different ways of producing energy from the tides, two different ways of producing energy from the waves ,Demonstrated experimentally the process of desalination – producing potable water from the sea. Her model also displayed fish farming and other ways of obtaining food from the sea.

Jaya Manocha’s model ‘Oceans – The untapped Resource’ was among the six models selected to represent Delhi at the National level ,which was held at Pragati Maidan from 20.10.12-23.10.12. There were more than 650 models from different schools from all over India. As a worthy participant Jaya was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- , along with two tee shirts , a bag and a mug as a momento. A compendium containing a brief write up on the projects of each participating awardee was published by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. This compendium contains a brief write up on Jaya’s project. Her efforts were highly appreciated by one and all.

Air Force sr. sec. school, OWC , race course , participated in inter school science exhibition , organized by Delhi Kannada Education Society , from 8.12.12 to 9.12.12 , at Delhi Kannada School , Lodhi Estate , New Delhi. In this exhibition 20 schools from all over Delhi participated with around 46 models on display . Air Force school’s model ‘Oceans – The untapped resource ‘ , exhibited by Jaya Manocha –class XI and Dikshant Manocha –class X won the First Prize of Rs 15000/- along with merit certificates . The students were guided in their successful endeavor by Mrs. Taru Goyal , PGT physics. The efforts put in by the students and the teacher were highly appreciated by all the eminent people present there.
