Vermont Rock Music Camp celebrates ten years of jamming at Burlington’s 242 Main, where kids have been coming together with their drum sets and guitars to deliver original tunes with the guidance of camp owner Greg Matses, and Burlington Parks and Recreation director Richard Bailey.

Students and faculty work together rehearsing, writing, and arranging music that culminates in one originally recorded song.

Past guest artists at the camp have included Jon Fishman of the band Phish, The Static Age, and Tammy Fletcher among a long list. This year’s bands include Dirty Names, Teeth, Teleport, aOlernKienOP Nike KD 7 Irish Thrillers ‘Savage’ ‘The Disturbed’ Join AFM Slate and Suicide doors.

Heavy metal guitar player Clay West, 17, of Westminster, Vermont has beenattending Rock Camp for the past five Air Jordan 5s years. Matses Air Jordan Fusion 4 hired Bailey, and his band Dysfunction, in 2001 to play at the camp that Matses ran at Brown’s River Middle School that year. It wasn’t long before the two teamed up and Air Jordan 6 Rings moved the camp to 242 Main, a youth run facility designed to encourage music and the arts, located in the Memorial Auditorium on Main Street, Burlington.

Matses and Bailey said the camp has grown considerable in the past ten years. “What we found was it didn’t work well with the school model,” Matses said. “The camp tends to be a little too rough and tumble.
