Then Pasadena American would pull away once more, only to see a stubborn Crescenta Valley squad muster enough offense to claw back, as the teams combined to score 25 runs through the first four innings.

The pattern finally ended in the fifth inning, when Pasadena American built a comfortable distance that Crescenta Valley could not get close to.

A wild Section 2 Tournament tilt that featured 22 hits and lasted nearly three hours ended with a 20 Air Jordan 2s 12 Pasadena American victory Sunday at Northridge Little League fields.

“We got key hits when we had to,” Pasadena American Coach Robert Lansford said. “We played pretty great defense. They’re a great team. Tuesday at Northridge. today in Northridge for the chance to have a rematch against Pasadena American in the title game.

A rematch might be just as thrilling as Sunday’s game.

Pasadena American began the contest with six runs in the first Jordan Pro Strong two innings, and with pitcher Sheldon Walker not allowing a hit to Crescenta Valley during the time frame, it appeared that Pasadena American would have a comfortable day.

Crescenta Valley made its opponent uncomfortable in the third.

It scored four runs in the frame, with Sam Kunz and Zach Feehan coming home on Nico Khoury’s double. Feehan and Devon Ramaker each scored twice, with Khoury, Braeden Bentzen, Vincent Parrott, Talon Corvahlo, Chuck Meyer, Nathan Nuttall, Ethan Miller and Sam Kunz also scoring.

With a 6 5 advantage, Pasadena American added to its lead with seven runs in the bottom of the third, sending its fans into a frenzy.

It was a short lived celebration for Pasadena American, as Crescenta Valley added to the Jordan Retro 2 drama with eight runs of its own in the top of the fourth.

“They battled back and they’ll continue to do so,” said Crescenta Valley Coach Brett Ramaker, whose team Air Jordan 3s trailed, 13 12, after the top of the fourth.

They’ll likely need to improve their control on the mound to have an opportunity to win the title.

Crescenta Valley issued 10 walks, including four in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, when Pasadena American finally put its opponent out of reach.

“They had strong hitters, but it was more us walking their batters,” Ramaker said. “That hurts. You have to strike them out or put the ball in play. You can’t give them free rides.”

Aaron Brown, Kevin Parada, Walker Air Jordan 16s and Diego Montanez Pasadena American’s top four hitters didn’t need free rides to score. The quartet combined for 10 hits, with Walker collecting three hits and driving in four runs. The four standouts also scored three runs apiece. No other player on Pasadena American scored two runs, but Jack Clougherty, Everett Sayer, Katie Golbranson, Adrian Castaneda, Greg Pavon, Tommy Arnst, Christian Zambrano, and Ryan Pearson also scored.
