Hughes Air Jordan 6s was a beast against the Saskatchewan Roughriders Saturday, picking up two first half sacks before getting a gift from quarterback Darian Durant.

Durant let a snap go over his head and Hughes scooped it up and rumbled into the endzone with teammate Brandon Smith as protection.

Hughes’ first career TD led the Stamps to a 40 3 stomping of the Roughriders in front of 33,469 fans at McMahon Stadium.

“I looked Smitty in the eye when I was running, and he knew I wasn’t going to hand it off,” Hughes said. “This is a big win. Lions (7 6).

This is the second straight whipping the Riders (4 9) have absorbed at the hands of a West Division opponent. Lions last week and are now 0 6 against divisional foes.

There wasn’t a single part of the Stamps that didn’t have a good day, but the rushing attack led the offence.

Running back Jon Cornish, in his second start since taking over for Joffrey Reynolds, had his first 100 yard game and punctuated it with a 35 yard TD run in Air Jordan 23s the third quarter.

Cornish finished with 181 yards on 14 touches and scored two majors.

“We came out, and the running game was working for us,” Cornish said. “The offensive line was blocking like crazy.

“It was amazing to see those holes. When you get rolling, it’s hard to go away from it. I’m hoping the rest of the season we keep it going running wise.”

Even backup LaMarcus Coker got into the fun, rushing for 66 yards on 11 carries.

Quarterback Henry Burris didn’t turn the ball over, and he left after the third quarter going 15 of 19 passing for 158 yards. Unlike a week ago, when Burris was yanked after an interception, his final pass completion in this blowout was a TD strike to Romby Bryant, who has four majors in the past two games.

Drew Tate, who scored on a two yard run early in the game, came in to lead the team on a field goal drive before giving way to Canadian rookie Brad Sinopoli.

Defensively, the Stamps ruled the Riders, Air Jordan 17s despite playing a bend but don’t break system. Three times, the Riders managed to drive into Stampeders territory, but they ended in turnovers.

Hughes created the first one by himself, coming free from Durant’s right side to drill the quarterback and make the ball pop straight to Daren Stone.

“Our pass rush has always been there,” Hughes said. “They were just getting the ball out quick on us. We haven’t got the hits on the Air Jordan Spizike quarterbacks. Today, we got there fast and brought him down.”.
