Nike Roshe Run Poly High girls basketball takes down second ranked opponent

The Poly High girls basketball team picked up its second win over a nationally ranked opponent Nike Roshe Run in as many days at the Nike Tournament of Champions, defeating St. Mary 72 64 on Friday.

The Jackrabbits were led by freshman Ayanna Clark, who compiled 20 points and nine rebounds. Arica Carter and Jada Matthews added 10 points apiece.

Valley Christian 60, New Millennium 10 >> The Crusaders improved to 3 7 with a blowout win during Day 2 action at the Valley Christian Tournament. Amanda Chamberlain scored 16 points and Alex Fenderson added 12 for the Crusaders.

Newport Harbor 57, Valley Christian 48 >> The Crusaders fell to 6 3 on the year with a loss in the semifinals of the Oxford Academy Tournament. Jordan Mitchell, Stedmon Bryant and Brian Bischoff led Valley Christian with eight points apiece.

Girls soccer

Freshman goalie Misha Marson recorded seven saves, but Valley Christian (2 5) couldn muster up any offense in a 1 0 loss against St.

Wilson 4, Arcadia 1 >> The Bruins outshot Arcadia 18 3 en route to a pool play victory at the Mater Dei Premier Invitational.

The Beach (7 4) never trailed in the contest and was paced by junior guard Hallie Meneses, who scored a season high 17 points Nike Roshe Run while shooting 7 of 9 from the field and connecting on three Nike Free Run 3 pointers.

Alex Sanchez was 7 of 8 for 14 points to go with six assists, while Ella Clark and Madison Montgomery scored 11 and Raven Benton added 10. Benton has now scored in double figures nine games in a row.
