Chubb and Michel will be a better duo than Gurley and Marshall simply because one can do the other job. Granted Marshall has been injured and unable to be the change of pace back for Gurley, but even in their freshman year it was clear that Gurley was just a touch slower than Marshall.

Michel is way faster than Chubb, but Michel can hit it between the tackles quite the same way Chubb can. They need each other more than Gurley needed Marshall (in some respects).

Again, I not saying that Marshall is useless. Gurley did that against Tennessee. Defense and passing offense were giving him nothing, and he seemed to just step in and take control. He was also doing that against sahkerlina but, in the crucial moment, we didn give it to him. Those are incredible things to watch, and Chubb is following a guy who could carry teams, that what he hasn had to do yet. The first weekend was an unofficial and he came in to visit. Spurrier wasn there. The next week was SEC Media days. I agree that Spurrier probably should have made more of an effort, maybe visiting him at home. But to expect a head coach to be there on a weekend in the middle of the summer (you know, when he probably out of town) and then be there the next weekend when he is obligated by the school and the SEC to be at media days is ridiculous. If Chubb had coordinated with staff he would have known Spurrier wouldn be there at least on the second weekend. Do you seriously believe that our coaching staff wouldn tell him that Spurrier would be unavailable? Or is it more likely that they were caught off guard when a prospect showed up unannounced?
