Jordan 10 Retro or reading about the pain and gain

My legs feel achy and all I can think about is what I’m going to eat for dinner.

And then I remember that eventually I’m going to have to do this all over again.

I’m not at that point yet, but by Aug. 24, I’m going to have to be. That’s when I’m running Jordan 10 Retro the Edmonton Half Marathon.

I decided to do this sort of on a whim. It was a combination of friendly competition and a desire to get leaner, fitter and more disciplined. So many people I know have done half marathons and espouse the benefits on Jordan Winterized 6 Rings Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. At some point, I started wondering, can I do this too?

I’ve never run 21.1 km before, nor have I ever run for more than an hour. The longest race I’ve ever participated in was 10 km, which I’ve done all of three times.

I’m not a novice runner, but I’m no pro. I’m a lazy runner. I run when and how I want to that means slowly and if I don’t feel up to it, I rarely force myself. Things are going to have to change if I hope to get through this half marathon in less than three hours. I’m not sure how prepared I am for what’s ahead.

Since I had a bit of a couch potato winter, I’ve been doing a bit of pre training for training so I don’t look as bad once I start. That’s where that one off 10 km came in. For the most part, I’ve been struggling to get myself out there, especially when the sky is grey and the temperature dips below 5 C. I tend to avoid my running shoes by going to yoga instead. (That counts, doesn’t Air Jordan 14s it?Since I’m doing this alone, I know the hardest part for me will be sticking to the plan. I’m going to have to kick it up a notch if I hope to get through this. I will be following a training plan that mixes running, cross training and yoga.

I still anticipate getting bored of running day Air Jordan 10 Retro after day. How do I keep motivated? How do I get the most out of my rest/alternative exercise days? How do I stay injury free? What should I eat? (Can I eat as many chips as I want? These are just some of the questions I’m hoping you avid, disciplined runners out there will help me answer as I embark on this challenge. I also want to hear your training stories and tips and tricks. What have you learned about running? Why do you do it? What should I know about running a half marathon?

I expect there will be blisters and aches and Jordan Pro Strong pains, but hopefully I’ll find that bliss point somewhere along the way. If you’re interested in running, or reading about the pain and gain, this is where you’ll find it. See you on the trails.
