It may have taken well into the later part of Saturday evening, but the Casper American Legion finally found its first victory of the season.

The Oilers earned a 12 11 walk on victory against Cheyenne Post 6 in the 10th inning on Saturday at Mike Lansing Field. Turner Hiatt led off with a triple in the bottom of the 10th inning, and after Post 6 walked two to load the bases, Hiatt scored the game winning run on an error.

In the first game of the day, Gillette starter Matt Fogle held the Casper bats without a hit for 6 and 1/3 innings. While Fogle couldn’t quite complete the no hitter, he still earned the victory, as his Roughriders team defeated the Oilers 11 3 to open the Casper portion of the Snowball Series.

Casper shortstop Brett Kautzmann ripped a one out, RBI triple down the left field line to end the no no bid. Fogle struck out eight, walked two and hit three batters. The ‘Riders (4 1 overall) also had three errors that led to Casper (1 3) baserunners.

Dan Reese also added a RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh inning for the Oilers. Gillette was led by shortstop Westin Hinkel, who was 1 for 4, but added three RBIs, including a sacrifice fly to put Gillette on the board in the top of the first inning.
